Dr. Dave Renaud
A veterinary epidemiologist in the Department of Population Medicine, Dave received his DVM from the University of Guelph in 2014 and worked in private practice on a full or part-time basis for 4 years. Dave obtained his Ph.D. in epidemiology from the Department of Population Medicine. His research focuses on the health and welfare of dairy calves. Dave teaches in both the veterinary and undergraduate curriculum.
Hanne Goetz
A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Hanne completed her Bachelor of Science, Honours degree in Animal Biology in 2018 and began her Master of Science degree in Epidemiology in the Department of Population Medicine in the fall of 2018. Her project under Dr. Dave Renaud’s advisory focuses on evaluating tools that could be used to identify veal calves at high risk of morbidity and mortality on arrival at a veal facility, specifically the development of reliable biomarkers associated with mortality and the validation of infrared thermography methods, which would allow for a more targeted treatment strategy and earlier animal recovery from illness. Hanne also spends time on campus recruiting future Gryphons, working as a Tour Guide for the University of Guelph Admissions Services. Outside of academics, Hanne is an avid hockey fan, and dog lover, raising service dogs in training.
