Careers in Agriculture Day – IPM

The International Plowing Match (IPM) – Careers in Agriculture Day – event is centred around “careers in agriculture” and will show case a number of industry related businesses to help expose students to potential career field opportunities and to give businesses an opportunity to promote, connect and cultivate relationships with the next generation of agri-leaders.
The Goals of the Careers in Agriculture Day are:
1. To showcase business in the industry;
2. Promote the industry and all the career related opportunities to students;
3. Have students network and connect directly with prospective employees.
Here is a draft of the day’s Itinerary:
- Buses from the University of Guelph (Main & Ridgetown Campuses) to arrive around 12:00 pm
- Careers in Ag. Speaker Panel to begin around 12:30 pm (topic: How I got my career in Ag.)
- Student networking mingle with employers/business (2 hours) from 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm
- Free time for students to explore the rest of the IPM – until 5:00 pm
- “Future Farmers Eve” to start at 5:00 pm and end at 9:30 pm. This part of the day will have live music from The Test Icicles, a cash bar & food. – This would be an optional thing for students to attend.
- Buses depart and return from IPM (times TBA)
